Throughout my career I have been searching for ways to utilize the power of video for non-commercial applications which actually help humanity. This has led my experimentation from very intimate personal videos, to film festivals, to contemporary art galleries and installations in museums. I've always strived to reach the reach people on a universal level, to channel the archetypal energy that connect all of us. I believe that the digital tools that have been provided to us have great potential for positivity and healing, if we can learn how to use them correctly. There are some interesting new fields opening up with participatory consciousness-shifting videos (ASMR, NLP, Chaos Magic, sound therapy, guided meditation and self-help videos, really anything that can be consumed as a form of psychological therapy). There are videos to help you sleep, to help you focus, to achieve an orgasm, help you find god, etc. In some of my recent work, I have started to gently explore the possibilities of these technologies. What I would like to do is devote my next few months to researching it with others while I am in residency here at PARSE SECO. PARSE SECO is a new contemporary art space located just outside of Taos in Arroyo Seco, New Mexico. PARSE SECO is a nomadic initiative that was inspired by nonprofit gallery PARSE NOLA in New Orleans, LA. My project is called THE HUM. THE HUM has a few components: I’m going to workspace/evolving installation in the PARSE SECO gallery from February 10th - March 5th, 2017. I’m going to be creating a window display, two large murals, and a working studio in the exhibit, where i’ll be collaborating with local healers to produce digital manifestations of their practices in the form of consciousness-shifting videos. It will be a living exhibit while I am producing work for the next component of the show, an exhibit at The Secret Dungeon, in Brooklyn, June 2017. I want to know what the needs of my audience are. Through the Kickstarter you will have an opportunity to commission a video for that will benefit you in some way. It’s going to be experimental. I can’t legally make any claims that these videos will heal anything but I truly believe that a change in consciousness can change your reality. I started pursuing healing videos and ritualized installations in an exhibit last year and tangentially started exploring chaos magick. I was feeling called to do a project out west when I was invited by to move to PARSE SECO. It seemed like the perfect place to explore these interests. The Taos area has a reputation as being a vortex that attracts a vast variety of metaphysical healers. The name of the exhibit comes from an unexplained frequency that emanates from the mountain range called the “Taos Hum.” I wonder if I have been hearing the HUM all along? Maybe the HUM brought me here to spread it’s wisdom worldwide… I’m an editor at heart and thats my greatest gift a an artist. When I get an idea, many times I am drawn to it long before I can articulate what it’s going to become. As I start chipping away and producing work, the image becomes clearer and clearer, and ultimately I find the elusive thing I was attracted to in the first place. The truth is, this project is about uncovering something I haven’t identified yet. And that’s really exciting! Exploring the depths of your consciousness is really fun! I truly believe that the videos produced during this exhibit will benefit human beings. This is not a scientific study, but if you read the comments on some of these videos, it's obviously affecting many people in a positive way.
